“We don’t even know how to express how much we love these. You captured our day and everything about it so amazingly and we couldn’t be happier with every single shot you took and what an amazing documentation of the day they are. We have shown absolutely EVERYONE and they are blown away!! ” – Rebecca & Tim
Hollybank House Wedding Photographer in West Sussex
It was a real pleasure to be Rebecca & Tim’s Hollybank House wedding photographer. When the newly-wed couple bowled up the drive for their reception at the West Sussex venue, the temperature was north 30 degrees.

Are you having your wedding reception at Hollybank House?
After the service at the picturesque Holy Trinity Church in Bosham, I got a ride with the bride and groom in the front seat of Rebecca’s father’s sleek (but really quite small) vintage sports for the 20-minute drive to Hollybank House in Emsworth. I could hardly move during the journey, but managed to get quick shot of the happy couple in the back seat by turning the camera round, pointing it over my shoulder and using the flippy screen on my Canon R6.
All the groomsmen, bridesmaids, flower girl, families and the other wedding guests were waiting next to the marquee in the beautiful gardens of this 19th century, family-run venue. The whole place looked an absolute picture, which is great when you’re a documentary-style wedding photographer (no posing required!) taking photos.
The decision to choose Hollybank House as their wedding venue was inspired. The house, run by the Williams family since 1966, has a late-Georgian elegance but with a relaxed and homely feel, that makes it the perfect place for youngsters to run around as the rest of the wedding guests catch up over a glass or three of champagne. What a gorgeous day to get married!
Street-style, natural wedding photography
Because Ian and the events team at Hollybank House have created such a chilled and unstuffy vibe, all the guests immediately felt at home. And when it comes to capturing fun, candid images of what it really feels like to be at a wedding reception, relaxed is always best, as you’ll see from the pictures.
Of course, there were a few group photos with the bride and groom, but this only took a few minutes. The rest of the images were created in a totally natural and unobtrusive way – like a street photographer. These are always the pictures most treasured by my clients – after all, life isn’t posed.
