Documentary wedding photography

On the Saturday before Christmas, Ed and Lucy’s wedding swept elegantly across London taking in four intriguing and very contrasting venues: lunch at the sleek Eyre Brothers eatery near Old Street’s ‘Silicon Roundabout’; a short walk to the service at the monumental Wesley’s Chapel; drinks at The Fox Public House a stones throw away; then a dash across town to the riotous Brunswick House at Vauxhall.

It was a wedding packed full of beauty, joy and humour, and all the dashing from one location to another made for some great documentary wedding photography opportunities. The ceremony itself was one of the most moving and entertaining I’ve ever seen. There was as much laughter in Wesley’s Chapel that day as there were tears of joy. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I heard such witty speeches in a Methodist church!

The stop off for champagne at The Fox pub was a bustling affair and perfect for an informal chat after the grandeur of Wesley’s Chapel. It was like the cast of Brideshead Revisited had decided to spend a Friday night in an East End pub. It could have been 1934 rather than 2014 and made for some gorgeous and emotional scenes.

Brunswick House wedding

Then we all hopped on a coach to the utterly remarkable Brunswick House opposite the imposing MI6 building at Vauxhall – and it couldn’t be more different from the ‘Legoland’ spy house. Unassuming enough on the outside, the Georgian Brunswick House, is home to the architectural salvage company LASSCO and is stuffed full of the most amazing antiques, making for a sumptuous backdrop to any gathering.
