Documentary wedding photography

Sarah and Jeremy’s Northcote House wedding in Sunningdale in beautiful Surrey was one of those rare occasions that managed to be both relaxed and elegant. That was probably because bride and groom have both of those qualities, along with the staff at Northcote House going out of their way to make everyone feel at home.

Northcote House, a Grade II listed neo-Georgian mansion, sits in 65 acres of lawns and woodlands that make up Sunningdale Park. With its sweeping staircase, handsome ballroom and terrace, and large wood-panelled bar, the house exudes a kind of cozy grandeur. And for those interested in their recent politics, it was also the location for the 1973 Sunningdale Agreement, which established power-sharing arrangements in Northern Ireland.

When I first met up with Sarah and Jeremy at Northcote House I could tell immediately they were very trusting and really liked my documentary wedding style. Being able to trust your wedding photographer and like their approach is so important. A couple should always feel confident that they’ll end up with a memorable set of images that tell the story of their wedding day in a beautiful and interesting way.

When I arrived on the morning of their late-November wedding day, Sarah and her mum were about to start getting ready, with the help of Lauren Wheeler Hair & Makeup. And with the bridesmaids and family buzzing around, it made for a lovely and excited atmosphere.

Sarah looked truly stunning in her dress as she breezed into the main room on her father’s arm, and she gently broke the formality with a little wave to Jeremy as she joined him to take their vows. This seemed to set the tone for rest of day…and what a memorable day it was.
