“Michael listened to exactly what we wanted for our wedding day photographs – not strictly traditional! He put us at ease and he captured so many special little moments in beautiful pictures. Thank you so much!” – Kym & Roger
Mill at Elstead wedding
It seems fitting that Kym & Roger’s 4th July wedding at The Mill at Elstead in Surrey would feature an American icon, but more about that later.
The first time I met Kym and Roger I could tell immediately that they were totally in love and that photographing their wedding was going to be a lot of fun. We’d arranged to meet at their wedding venue, The Mill at Elstead, to discuss their plans for the big day. During our chat Kym took me aside and said she had a surprise up her sleeve for Roger, and that I wasn’t to let on. Mum’s the word, I said.
The day arrived and it was one of those perfect English summer days. After a laughter-filled wedding ceremony at Guildford Register Office it was off to The Mill at Elstead for an afternoon of celebration, games and lots of dancing.
When I arrived at The Mill, there was a large crowd gathered in the car park. Kym had arranged for Roger to be picked up in a replica of KITT, the talking Pontiac Trans Am car from the 1980s cult US TV series, ‘Knight Rider’. It was a really nice touch, and Roger was beaming as he posed for pictures at the wheel. It set the tone for the whole day, and their guests were treated to games by the river and could help themselves to dozens of old-fashioned sweets.
Documentary Wedding Photographer
Kym and Roger said they wanted a really relaxed day with their family and friends – and a documentary wedding photographer to capture it in a genuine and interesting way. Here are a few of the pictures – hope you like them. Oh, and Kym and Roger wanted a few posed pictures too (as many couples do), so I’ve included one or two in this selection.
If you’re looking for a documentary wedding photographer to tell the story of your Mill at Elstead wedding or Guildford Register Office wedding, or any other location, I’d love you to get in touch.
